Son-Kül

3 days

One of those things every tourist does in Kyrgystan is riding a horse. And we were no different. (We even chose the most popular spot to do so near Song Kul. What also was no different is how much it hurts when you are not experienced. My bleeding ass can confirm this. But my choice of underwear probably had something to do with that…)

Our tour starts from the charming village of Kyzart. With friendly locals waving us off. Our young guide does not bother socializing and just takes off. It took us some time to get used to our horses but after some time we are galloping between the spring flowers. Four and a half hours of rubbing on the saddle, we arrive at our accommodation near the lake. We stay overnight in a yurt where we meet some friendly guys who are doing the trek on foot.
