We are Jasper and Barbara and we created this website as a means to inspire anyone who likes to travel the same way we do.  We prefer to travel low budget, staying in guesthouses and taking public transport.

While we love nature and mountains a city with a good antique market, book shops, brutalist architecture and local food is just as high on our list.

The images you see are our view on the places we have seen and the people we have met.

2 weeks

18.07.2021 ---- 31.07.2021

GREECE IS MOSTLY known for its islands with clear blue water but the mainland equally proves to be an ideal summer destination.

We balanced off our hikes up to Mount Olympos and through the rock formations of Meteora with downtime on the islands of Milos and Hydra. The first because of the unique moonscape beaches and the second for the car-free small town atmosphere.

We ended with the unsurmountable visits to Athens' historical sites, even in  a 46° C heatwave.

Hiking mt. Olympos

For enthusiasts of Greek mythology, Mount Olympos is, for obvious reasons, special. Arriving at the shelter, I felt no Zeus on the throne, but the spaghetti tasted better than usual. The group of donkeys along the way was a nice bonus.

Relax at Hydra

Hydra can feel a bit lofty due to the high number of boat owners staying on the island, but we found it at least as idyllic as other Greek islands and, besides, there is no motorised traffic.

Milos' Lava beaches

If you are looking for the perfect location for a photo shoot, the lava beaches in Milos are the place to go. At sunset, many couples can be seen here. The white lava rocks are reminiscent of the surface of the moon.

Kalambaka

The monastries of Kalambaka are an important religious place but also an otherworthly sight. Hermits settled in the caves of these stone pillars since the 9th or 10th century and later monastries were built.
