Antananarivo

2 days

We cross herds of zebu. They come all the way from Tuléar on foot and are either on the way to Tana or to the East. Transport in trucks is so expensive that the owners of the zebu prefer to pay men to go the distance on foot. In 30 days they have to reach their destination which means they have to walk 30 kilometers every day. If an animal dies along the way they have to keep its horns as proof.

Now that we are on this road during the day, we see all the colourful houses. They are handpainted with products and branding. Onintsoa stops at a small dairy shop so we can taste local cheese. In Sendao we take a break for delicious pork sausages in hotely vatsy. The most beautiful wooden trucks are sold along the RN7. Made by hand with small windows and painted in primary colours.

After a day in Tana with Tsoa we say goodbye to him and thank him for all his time, energy, jokes and stories.
