Bukhara

2 days

The train ride from Khiva to Bukhara was brutal. The train itself is very nice, but it is very hot and opening the window means your pillow and lunch are coated with a layer of dust. We opt to keep the window closed.

Bukhara feels like the middle brother in between Khiva and Samarkand. We found it nice to see the tourist sights more intertwined with the day-to-day life.

After spending a good amount of time in the more remote parts of Kazachstan we find ourselves back in touristy areas. It takes some time getting used to again, but it is also nice to have options to drink coffee or browse small souvenir stalls. Despite the hot weather I have a serious cold and as travel fatigue sets in, it takes me a lot of effort to show interest in the sights.
