Khujand

Our friendly driver drops us off at the border in Kanibodom. We walk towards Tajikistan. The landscape with the barbed wire reminds us of a documentary about the border conflicts in 2022. Fortunately, things look peaceful now.
After skipping the shared taxis we find the marshrutka to the avtovakzal in the city center. Immediately people are curious where we are from. A friendly passenger on his way to his uncle’s restaurant invites us for shashlyk. If we did not need to take the marshrutka to Khujand, we would have gladly accepted.
The city is pleasantly located near the Syr Darya but apart from walking around the parks, there is not much to do in Khujand. We stock up on bread and raisins for our next days in the Fann Mountains.
