Seven lakes
3 days
We take the marshrutka to Istarafshan and are forced to pay for the shared taxi to Penjakent by ourselves. The host of our homestay Migjon then picks us up and takes us all the way to his home near The Seven Lakes. We see our first spring blossoms as we ascend into the mountains.
The area looks like something out of the Bible. Goats playfight along the shore of an azure blue lake. Shephards look over their flock from large boulders. We are very pleased that we really took the time to hike the area and take in the beauty of this remote place.
Our hostess talks about her younger years as a midwife in the area. Back then there was no road connecting the villages. People walked all the way to her house to knock on the door and ask for her services. She then set off on a donkey to the other village that could be as much as two hours away.
