After a night in Tbilisi again, we take the train to Zugdidi. The marshrutka waits outside of the trainstation until it is full and then we leave for Mestia. It is an eventful drive with a burst tyre and vomit on Jasper's rucksack minutes before we arrive at our destination.
We do the four-day hike to Ushguli and overnight in Chvabiani, Adishi, Khalde and finally ofcourse Ushguli.
Every day is different. One day we encounter a lot of villages, men mowing fields with a scythe, the other we hardly see a living soul or we hike up 1000 m with lots of other hikers.
If I would have to choose I would say that the hike to Adishi was my favourite. We took the higher trail where we encountered only one wild camper. The mountain pastures are coloured by caucasian scabiosa, daisies, buttercups, …
