Jeju island
5 days
Jeju island is the perfect mix of hiking, seafood, tangerines and good interior design. We stay in Seogwipo and drive allover the island with a rental car. The first day we hike up Hallasan mountain. After the first easy part I am thirsty and chug a couple of gulps of our bottle of water. The taste sets me off. Turns out we bought a big bottle of soju instead of water.
The snowy trees above the clouds are one of the most beautiful views I have ever seen. Contrary to everyone else we are not wearing crampons but this means we can embrace our ability to slide down the mountain.
After our time on the farm nothing gives me more energy than the interior design of Jeju's cafés. We spend our days roadtripping to short hikes and beautiful cafés. Near Seongsan Ilchulbong a Google maps search leads us to a hairtail restaurant above a fish mine where we try a menu with the delicious silver fish prepared in every possible way.
Another favourite from Jeju was the unassuming duruchigi restaurant in Seogwipo. The staff prepares the sliced porc at our table. First we need to eat it with lettuce and after the lettuce is finished they add vegetables and rice.
